Inese Upe has started developing CI, teaching it to Latvian non-professionals and organizing master classes for guest teachers since 2006; once organizing 4 international contact improvisation festivals.
Inese has enriched her experience in improvisation and contact improvisation since 2001, regularly participating in master classes in Europe and organizing them here in Latvia, as well as assisting in the Department of Dance and Somatic Pedagogy of the Eastern Finland Sports Institute in 2010.
Inese integrates improvisation and somatics into her classes, taking inspiration from the old-school contact improvisation beliefs that the very basis of this dance is deep listening to yourself and your partner, entering a real ‘here and now’ state, surrendering to the freedom and responsibility that it provides and playing with the possibilities of the moment. When teaching, she combines the experience of improvisation and modern dance, the charisma of a creative teacher and the knowledge of a body-oriented psychotherapist, thus easily providing a deep sense of your body and your partner, which helps both in contact improvisation, and indeed in any other dance, and in your personal life.
