Akash Sergey Ancupov devoted 40 years to the classical music of North India. Since 1986 he has been a disciple of the living legend, the sarodist Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
The name Akash was given to sarod player, composer and teacher Sergey Ancupov by his legendary guru Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Therefore Akash belongs to Senia Bangash gharana of North Indian Classical Music.
The word “akash” means: aether (the fifth element), heaven, universe consciousness space.
Akash has established himself as a virtuoso and sophisticated musician of the North Indian classical music tradition, which invariably attracts lovers of Indian and sacred music.
Sarod has no analogues in the world and thanks to a special technique of sound production it has an unusually powerful and beautiful sound.
